Market Strategy

Market 2To employ a Market Strategy, you will need:

  • Warehouse level 2
  • Market level 1
  • A surplus of iron

Active players find this very beneficial and convenient, since Spears production creates a surplus of iron. If you don’t want to focus your resource spending too much on your warehouse, or if you have a resource that will easily exceed your warehouse capacity, use this strategy.

The benefit and simultaneous drawback of the market strategy is that it is comparable to a warehouse level 5 in carrying capacity, but only for 1 resource. You can get upgrade your market level to gain more storage capacity. Of course, the warehouse is better than the market for long term resource storage but at the very early stages it has benefits.

This strategy can easily mix with almost any strategy, but works especially well with: Spear production, Market Rush, Market addition, Swords escorting, Early defense strategy and Light cavalry rush. It is the main purpose of having a market before the end of the beginner protection.

Point-Whoring Strategy

WhoreA player using the point-whoring strategy, also known as a Sim City player, adds buildings only to gain points. The players want to keep high ranks when using this strategy but it leads to their downfall in the rankings later on. Why? They neglect their income. Instead of building troops or more mine levels or getting other useful buildings, they build some of these:

  • Market; build too early and the market slows down your growth.  You need only build it early if you’re using a market strategy.
  • Hiding place- useful in some precise occasions but not during the beginner protection.
  • Smithy- you only need to build when you want to add some new units and have already some Spears and your Paladin.
  • Highly upgraded Mines, emphasize on farming even if it gives less points.
  • Unneeded HQ , Barracks and Stables levels- most of these upgrades aren’t needed since you don’t have the income to keep them working 24 hours a day. You can upgrade them if you see you’re producing too many resources and can’t build things fast enough.
  • Unneeded Farm and Warehouse levels (if your farm or your warehouse isn’t full, you don’t need to upgrade them).

Early Mine Whoring Strategy

MoneyEarly mine-whoring is a risky approach, but if you have very few resource options, this can work well to keep you competitive in the early phases of the game.

  • Clay or Iron level 1 or statue + paladin
  • Wood or Clay level 1
  • Iron or Wood level 1
  • (Choose either option 1 everywhere or option 2 everywhere. If you have a paladin choose option 2)
  • Clay 2
  • Wood 2
  • Clay 3
  • Clay 4
  • Wood 4
  • Clay 5
  • Wood 5
  • Wood 6
  • Wood 7
  • (You can get statue and paladin here as well)
  • HQ 2
  • HQ 3
  • Barrack
  • Produce spears and begin farming

If you have a small number of barbarians or farms in your area, this approach will help you stay competitive early on until you can employ other strategies to force new farms. Some players also find success with this technique and only upgrade to clay 4 and wood 6- do what works best for you based on the specs of the world you are in.

Some players also add a level 2 iron mine as well. Remember, if you have more than 2 barbarians in your 7×7, you should consider another strategy or pair them, in order to maximize your access to resources. You won’t see this strategy employed often, not because it is ineffective but because most players will restart if their camp is in an undesirable area.  If you are willing to play with the hand you were dealt, however, this can be a great fit.

Secure Barrack Strategy

Barracks4The Barracks is the key to troop production, both offensive and defensive, and is thus critical to survival at any phase of the game.  For a Secure Barracks strategy, you will need:

  • Clay or Iron lvl 1 or statue + paladin
  • Wood or Clay lvl 1
  • Iron or Wood lvl 1
  • (Choose either option 1 everywhere or option 2 everywhere. If you have a paladin choose option 2)
  • Clay 2
  • Wood 2
  • Clay 3
  • Wood 4
  • Wood 5
  • HQ 2
  • HQ 3
  • Barrack
  • Produce spears and begin farming.

If you have around 2 barbarians for farming in your area, this can work and gives you more secure income from mines.  Sometimes, taking your Barracks levels as high as this can cause you to have a late start on farming with Spears. Be sure to produce a Paladin to also assist with farming hauls- this is not a strategy that is meant to stand alone, and should be combined with another approach to maximize the use of resources. If you are a bit less active, on a longer beginner protection, or simply feel like having level 5 wood, this might be the best strategy for you to farm and maximize troop production.  You never want to neglect your resources- so choose wisely.

Barrack Rush

BarracksThe Barracks Rush approach, similar to the other troop rush approaches, is very simple but requires specific upgrades.  They are:

  • Clay or Iron level 1
  • if option 2 statue + paladin
  • Wood or Clay level 1
  • Iron or Wood level 1
  • (Choose either option 1 everywhere or option 2 everywhere. If you have a paladin choose option 2)
  • HQ 2
  • HQ 3
  • Barracks
  • Make spears and begin farming

This strategy is widely known and used, but if you don’t have access to resources and Spears, this is not the approach for you.  Unless you have 5-6 barbarians in your 7×7 I would advise you to not try this strategy.  As with the Extreme Barracks Rush, be wary using the Barracks Rush strategy that you don’t rush too many troops and impede your growth.

Mixed with the rewards of the tutorial it works similar to the standard Barracks strategy and the secure Barracks strategy, and is still usable if you only have 3 or fewer barbs in your 7×7. It works better on short beginner protections. This strategy isn’t common in the whole Tribal wars community but gained a significant amount of popularity after the release of the new update.

Extreme Barrack Rush

Barracks2The Extreme Barracks rush is exactly what it sounds like- an extreme version of Barracks Rush. To employ it, you will need:

  • HQ 2
  • HQ 3
  • Barrack
  • Constantly build spears and begin farming.

Avoid this strategy in the early stages. Your mine income is so small that even if you rushed for troops, players with upgraded mines will actually have more troops than you, faster , and their mine income to boot. More experienced players in later stages of the game are likelier to have success with this strategy. You can employ this strategy to annoy players and create spiked farms with no resources.

A good way to use this strategy is with a village that already has upgraded mines (for example, when you join a world later on); even if you have mines, you’ll want at least a level 4 wood, a level 2 or 3 clay and a level 1 iron.  Also, if you have the option, build a statue with a paladin to farm before HQ 2. This technique also works way better with the completion of the tutorial and the rewards that come with it.

Many players use this strategy in developed world, because it is very efficient; troops get a better profit than mines, and are what tribal wars is all about.

Restart Mail Tactic

MailRestart Mail is popular, simple, and effective- and the best part is that it doesn’t require any resources or planning. This technique goes along side Intimidation, and has you mail your neighbors to try making them restart. The goal is to create barbarians for farming, and naturally, to get rid of some nearby future enemies that you don’t want growing alongside you and breathing down your throat.

Being arrogant leads often to a failure, and failure in this tactic isn’t rare. It works better if you mail them the first time they log-in since they won’t have spent any time growing their account. This is often used by world hoppers.

If you are in a tribe, consider having them also mail new players to cause them more stress and concern.  It’s relatively easy to convince your tribe to help you with this, since it doesn’t require them to send any troops or risk losses on your behalf.
